Pastoral Care

As stated in our Mission, YBGR provides services that promote healthy spiritual development as well as emotional, behavioral, educational and physical development.

The voluntary Pastoral Care program at YBGR is funded solely by donations and grants from friends of Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch who also recognize the need for the whole person to be healthy.

YBGR presents youth with an engaging approach to spiritual development that recognizes and respects the diverse backgrounds and traditions of the youth and families we serve. Pastoral care is offered from a Judeo-Christian foundation. YBGR provides a caring and honest environment where youth explore and grow in their understanding of God’s grace and forgiveness, while building their faith. This reduces shame, restores hope and guides each youth to courageously assume responsibility for their words and actions.

Chaplain John Jamison

YBGR has two full-time chaplains. Chaplain John Jamison lives on the YBGR campus and supports youth who are in residential programs. Every lodge has a trained pastoral care worker and many volunteers are used to support the residential pastoral care program. Interested YBGR staff may volunteer and are carefully screened to participate in the youth-mentor program. This voluntary program is made available for youth seeking more personal guidance in their spiritual growth.

Chaplain David Morales

On the main campus, voluntary pastoral care is offered weekly in an interdenominational service, pastoral care groups, youth groups, family week and individual counseling. Services are provided in partnership with other agencies, churches and local synagogue. This is a vital service within the Yellowstone Boys & Girls Ranch continuum of care.

Chaplain David Morales supports youth and families in the local community and those using YBGR Community Based Programs. Working with YBGR community based staff, Chaplain David assists in meeting the needs of feeding the hungry, finding safe shelter, visiting the sick and lonely and providing for the basic living needs when a youth or family is faced with the possibility of going without. Community services are provided in partnership with many other agencies, churches and local synagogue.

The Pastoral Care program at Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch is designed to help youth see themselves as capable individuals; who are able to overcome adversity, disappointment and mistakes.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
