EAGALA Therapy and Equine Program
The EAGALA therapy model is a client-centered and solution-oriented model where clients work directly with horses on the ground. The purpose of the model is to help clients achieve goals by using their own intuition and engaging the horses in various activities or challenges. By only working with the horses on the ground, the clients are able to better understand the perspectives of the horses and how the horses behave. This allows the client to process what they think the horses’ perceptions are and to hopefully gain insight into their own thoughts and emotions. The goal of the EAGALA therapy model is to have the youth use symbolism and metaphors to find solutions to whatever they may be working through.
YBGR also offers recreational riding allowing the youth get to experience riding a horse. This program gives the youth opportunities to learn about basic care and maintenance of the horses, as well as participating in work crews so that the youth can help take care of the horses and hopefully gain life skills to take with them when they leave the Ranch.
